Mythological Couples: Hades and Persephone
Were his eyes playing tricks on him? What was Hades doing in his palace?
“Long time no see, dear brother.” Zeus greeted him. “What brings you here?”
“It’s been quite long, yes.” Hades agreed. “Listen, I’ve wanted to talk to you about something.”
“I am all ears then.” Zeus replied, his curiosity peaked. Whatever the matter, it must be quite important, if Hades was willing to leave his palace.
“I want to marry Persephone.” Hades responded straightforwardly.
He had forgotten his brother was not a man of many words.
“Persephone?” Zeus asked incre
I refuse to apologize
that I dance like I have diamonds
at the meeting of my thighs,
for I am everything I am made of,
and if you don’t like it love, well tough.

Said the Ocean to the Sailor
Tell me where your heart sleeps.
Tell me where it lays its burden down.
For if you have no place to rest,
let me offer up my breast.
Darling there’s no need
for you to flounder
and then drown
when safe shores are here
for you to call home.
Tell me I am where your heart sleeps.
Tell me I am where it lays its burden down.

Pick and Choose
...I am not, and will not ever be good enough...
That is a truth,
but it does not
have to be the truth,
and that is up to me.
So I bare my doubts,
I lay out my fears,
and I let the smoke wash over me,
and I let the smoke wash behind me,
and I let the smoke wash before me,
and I ask the smoke to wash through me.
My struggles and my triumphs
will be both my test
and my sincerity
to those that walked
all these paths before me.
I go forth knowing only that
while it may not be what I want,
what I receive is what I need,
and that is a hard truth
that I hate,
that I love,
that I believe.
You told me “friends forever”,
More like ‘friends for now’,
As your sweet promises
Were just lies I allowed.
You said “we are best friends”,
More like ‘friends at best’,
As your solid affirmations
Were all digressed.
You told me “I need you”
More like ‘you need me’
As your statements
Were my last plea.
Why did you go?
Why did you leave?
I’m left here all alone
Trying, in us, to believe.
Hey remember me?
I'm lonely
Without anyone to talk to,
Yeah we met last week
I'm so glad
You actually remembered me.
Hey remember me?
I'm happy
That we could hang out.
I know it might
Seem a bit strange to ask
But are we friends?
Yeah?!
Thank goodness
Now I can be at ease
You’re really here with me
It wasn't just a tease.
Hey remember me?
I'm weird
Just a little bit though
I thought you liked me
Because of that
Because of the way I am
Right?
Hey remember me?
I'm trying
To keep up a smile
But it’s getting pretty hard
Because every once in awhile
It seems like all you want
Is for me to cry.
Is that what a friend does?

The Sun and the Rain (poem)
Rainbows
The sun was a pretty girl;
Dressed in ribbons and bows.
Each day she brightened up the earth
With her crimson orange glow.
The rain was cold and bitter;
Friends with the sleet and snow.
His heart hung heavy with misery,
His songs were full of woe.
One day they collided.
The sun said “Don’t you know?
The grey and cloudy tears will soon disappear;
I think you’re great just so.”
So up in the sky together
They let their love flow.
It leapt from their hearts, across the world
And became a rainbow.
I wonder how many days you've spent feeling lost.
Thinking that you're going somewhere.
Never actually getting anywhere.
You look at the same four walls over and over again.
You can paint them in different colours,
But you know they're still the same.
And you convince yourself that you're making progress,
Nothing's changed, but you're making progress.
Things are getting worse, but you're making progress.
And then you wake up and realise,
That shit has hit the fan...
Suddenly you're forced to do the things you couldn't,
The kind of things that you were never comfortable with.
And you find out you can do them.
You find out that the only
